Annie Du is currently an artist located in Pittsburgh and studying at the University of Pittsburgh, pursuing a BA in Studio arts and Economics. She usually indulges in using digital programs to create art, or using acrylic paint to paint more detail oriented work. She wants to incorporate more of other media in her artwork, such as yarn or maybe even jewels. Currently, her art goal is to create art that is outwardly visually appealing and detailed, but wants to be innovative in her style and use of color. Most of her work involves some pattern research.
My art processes usually start out digital so I am able to hash out details quickly without much waste. I usually just start it immediately on canvas if I am painting it with acrylic paint, or on a digital program. A lot of what goes into the middle of my process goes directly from my brain to my hand, and a lot of it is on the spot. In my art, I like to use ethereal imagery and rendering to bring out the images that I see in my dreams. I take notes of all my dreams and incorporate those into my artwork because of the visual impact that they have on me. Because they are blurry snapshots that I see, I like to bring it to life through my art, and that is also why my process is so quick, especially in the beginning.
